Title: Thermal diffussivity in cast aluminum alloys

Abstract Text:

The increase in efficiency in a combustion engine requires the increase in temperature within the combustion chamber, which increases the demands of the alloy from which the engine is made. Aluminum alloys have to be designed to enhance their thermal diffusivity to allow the heat generated in the combustion chamber to dissipate. This work presents a series of analyses conducted on a wide range of cast aluminum alloys with the aim to evaluate the dependence of thermal diffusivity with the chemical composition, microstructure and heat treatment imparted.
