Title: Modeling and numerical Simulation of Quenching Processes of AISI 4140 Steel and Validation

To predict evolutions of microstructures and internal stresses in quenching processes of components made by AISI4140 steel, a temperature- microstructure- stress material model was established. Kinetics of martensitic and bainitic transformation were established by using CCT curves measured. Influences of internal stresses on martensitic and bainitic transformation were investigated by uniaxial thermal mechanical experiments. The temperature-transformation-stress model proposed of AISI 4140 was implemented in DEFORM-HT, and the calculated results of temperature, microstructures and internal stresses were compared with published references and measured results.
