There are thirty neutron scattering instruments in the neutron scattering program at ORNL, which includes two dedicated engineering beam lines: VULCAN at the Spallation Neutron Source, and a recently upgraded instrument at the High Flux Isotope Reactor, tentatively named HIDRA. This presentation will highlight the updated capabilities of these instruments to quantitatively map microstructure, chemistry, phase fractions, texture, and strain in engineering materials with complex shapes and under controlled temperature, load, and/or other applied conditions. Such data can be particularly valuable in evaluating computation models of mechanical behavior and residual stress.
