FNC, Ferritic Nitrocarburizing is a common heat treat process that can be achieved multiple ways including salt, plasma and gas nitriding. Of the 3 there is no ammonia used in the ion (plasma) process. Learn why companies and the Auto Workers Union are moving away from processes that use ammonia. Plasma is safe, ran at low temperatures which reduces distortion and safe for the environment, while still achieving hardness, case depth, and white layer. Besides the clean process itself it uses mechanical masking which saves time and product to apply copper masking, removing and disposing it.

Learn about the process and furnaces available to achieve such processes. Rosanne Brunello-McCay is the Midwest Sales Rep for Rubig Furnaces out of Austria, with a parts and service facility in Rockford Illinois. Rubig will start "Assembling in America" in 2021.

*Note: I was to speak on the Misconceptions of FNC for IMAT 2020 which of course was cancelled due to the pandemic.
