Structural adhesives importance has been increased significantly in the aerospace industries.
Adhesives used in the joining process have many advantages like impact resistance, stress
transfer, light weight, stiffness improvement. With more evolution to address the demanding
applications of adhesives, it also becomes very essential to understand the handling, adherents,
and limitations of the adhesives to meet the bonding durability. This presentation describes a
case study where a series of thermal- mechanical testing was carried out to show how durability
of the adhesive bonding is compromised due to improper heat treatments, which could lead to
adhesive bonding failures in the aerospace engine components.
