This presentation will provide an overview of how the properties of thermal sprayed coatings can be enhanced using heat treatment processes. Subsequent heat treatment of coatings is used to densify coatings, increase both adhesion and cohesion, as well as change the microstructure for enhanced performance. This presentation will highlight some of the different materials and heat treatment technologies used and their corresponding effect on the microstructure and performance of the coating. Heat treatment of thermal sprayed coatings is a powerful method for altering the microstructure of a thermal sprayed coating for enhancing wear and corrosion resistance.
