Anticipating New Materials for High-volume Automotive Body Applications

The high-volume production of automotive bodies is easily overlooked in today’s push towards electrification and computer assisted driving applications. Yet, no future high-volume vehicles will succeed without an efficient and affordable body. This presentation will present several examples of material developments from a high-volume automotive manufacturer perspective. We will show what characteristics led to their respective failure or success, and in this fashion, we hope to offer the material developer insights into the world of high-volume automotive body production.
