Aircraft engines are made of variety of materials often coated with anti-wear coating that can be in contact and in relative motion. Like other industries, when surfaces of two components are contacting together this may lead to wear and loss of functionality affecting service life and have economic impact. The presentation will cover different types of wear observed on gas turbine components and metallurgical markers used to identify them, accompanied by relevant examples.
