Metallurgical evaluation of cracked alloy 718Plus bolted joints from 2 development gas turbines

During development engine testing two alloy 718Plus parts were found cracked after relatively low hours of testing. The investigation covers the fracture morphology, associated degradation mechanism, high level microstructure/processing, operating environment, and loading related to determining the root cause.
