Microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) can be an aggressive corrosion mechanism in plumbing systems, particularly those containing untreated (raw) water or experiencing stagnant conditions. This talk will review the different types of MIC, testing methods, and some Failure Analysis project examples where MIC has been identified as the root cause of failure.
