A Materials Introduction: ASM International and My Journey as an Emerging Engineer

During my junior year of high school, my introduction to materials science and engineering occurred unexpectedly when my robotics instructor handed me a flier advertising an MSE summer camp. Organized by the ASM Education Foundation, the Eisenman Materials Camp presented an opportunity for students to being introduced into the world of materials. Somewhat blindly, I decided to attend and describing my experience as transformative would be an understatement. As I embarked on my collegiate journey, I gradually realized that the Eisenman camp merely scratched the surface of the student opportunities provided by ASM International. From student scholarships, competitions and board positions, ASM extends a wealth of offerings tailored to members at every stage of their careers. My experiences with ASM have changed my outlook on the materials world for the better and I am eager to see what comes next.
