In 2023, after taking off from an airport, the number 2 engine on the event aircraft experienced decreased oil pressure, increased EGT and high engine vibrations. Then a fire warning indication annunciated in the cockpit and both fire extinguishing bottles were discharged. The crew performed an Air Turn Back (ATB) with an uneventful single engine landing. Upon inspection, fire damage was observed across the number 2 engine. During the engine teardown, the fire was traced back to the most likely source being the 5R bearing oil sump location via the low pressure (LP) Recoup tubes. The LP recoup tubes were missing material in the location of the LP Recoup flanges which trace into the 5R bearing oil sump location.
