Machina Labs, Inc. is revolutionizing manufacturing with its RoboCraftsman technology, which combines AI-driven robotics for multiple operations—such as sheet metal forming, scanning, trimming, and heat treating—into a single, deployable system. Traditional sheet metal manufacturing methods, like stamping and hydroforming, rely on specialized tooling, leading to long lead times and high costs, limiting flexibility and increasing supply chain dependence. The RoboCraftsman’s core feature, RoboForming, is a tool-less sheet metal forming process that eliminates the need for molds and dies, reducing lead times by over 10x and tooling costs by up to $1M per design. The system uses two articulated robotic arms with real-time feedback control to form parts with precision, followed by laser scanning for quality control. Additionally, Machina Labs incorporates AI and machine learning for continuous monitoring and quality control to optimize processes and part performance. The current generation RoboCraftsman’s modular design enables rapid deployment in various locations with minimal site preparations, and is housed in two ISO containers for easy transport. This advanced digital manufacturing approach promotes consistency, repeatability, traceability, and significant cost and time savings for producing high-performance components. Applications and case studies will also be discussed to further illustrate the practical benefits of the RoboCraftsman system.
