Daubert v. Merrell Dow Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in 1993 has become the key supreme court ruling on admissibility of expert witnesses. A brief look at this ruling and subsequent interpretations through a series of case studies by the courts can help a failure analyst understand the basics and some of the nuances, perhaps saving their own rear and that of their clients.
