This study investigates the β-grain orientation evolution in support‑free overhangs with angles of 10°, 15°, 20°, and 30° in Ti6Al4V alloys. A thermal imbalance develops between the bulk and downskin regions due to heat accumulation driven by the low thermal conductivity of the powder bed. This imbalance reduces the cooling rate in the downskin region compared with the bulk and leads to the development of distinct β‑grain orientations. This presentation will showcase SEM, EBSD, and microhardness results to compare the microstructural and mechanical properties of the bulk and downskin regions.
