The Fracture Mechanisms Analysis of Copper Coatings Produced by Low Temperature HVAF

J. Li, X. J. Yuan, H. G. Wang, B. L. Zha, G. L. Hou, The High Tech Institute, Xi`an, China

In this paper ,utilizing the Low Temperature High Velocity Air Fuel (LTHVAF) spraying  system we prepare a series of copper coating in different base body, and the fracture behavior of copper coating was researched. Experiment results show that the adhesive strength of coatings is distributing between 10 Mpa and 25Mpa, the fracture of coatings is elasticity ,During the process, the crack is occurred in the coating porosity , the particle boundary ,the boundary of coating and particle ,the crack expand along the particle boundary ,and the fracture is occurred in the end .
