Session Description: A number of thermal, mechanical and chemical surface treatments have been employed to further optimize a component and thermal spray coatings. Processing techniques can, for example, be used to improve coating adhesion, density/porosity or surface roughness and contribute to the overall robustness of the coating system. This session will focus on “Pre and Post” surface treatments used to improve coatings/components in OEM and repair applications and show how these surface treatments can improve overall process consistency, coating robustness, service life and cost of manufacture.
