Kinetic MetallizationTM of fully dense tungsten and chrome carbide coatings with a variety of matrix materials offers new opportunities and applications for wear and corrosion resistant coatings. Inovati has develop suitable feedstock materials for the KM process ranging from nanocrystalline tungsten carbide to chrome carbide with alternative matrix materials to enhanced wear and corrosion resistant properties. Deposition of materials including nc-WC-Co, WC-17%Co, WC-10Co-4Cr, WC-NiCoCr and Cr2C3-NiCr using Kinetic Metallization will be presented along with the metallurgical and mechanical properties. Applications for these type of coatings and the benefits of using the low temperature Kinetic Metallization process to deposit these materials will be reviewed.
