The bond strength of cold-sprayed Mg coatings under different conditions: as-sprayed, substrate preheating and heat treatment at 400oC were investigated.  The bond strength of the as-sprayed coating was low due to the relative poor deformation ability of Mg particle compared with other metals. It increased with substrate preheating resulted from the softening of the surface of the substrate. And with the increase of the preheating temperature, the bond strength of the coating increased. The heat treatment at 400oC can benefit the bond strength of the coating. With the time of the heat treatment increase from 1 h to 4 h, the diffusion layer increased, and the bond strength increased.
