The useful nanostructured zirconia coatings were prepared by solution plasma spraying. Processing affects of solution and coatings were introduced, and the phase composition and microstructure of the coatings and powders dried from solution was observed by XRD and SEM. The results show that non-crystal was obtained by dry solution spontaneously, while crystal structure by heat, and the coatings was mixed crystal structure of monocline and cubic by air plasma spray. The coatings were composed of dense blocks formed by better melted particles and micro-cracks. The fine grain nanostructured zirconia coatings can be obtained. Nano-zirconia coatings were nanostructure and adhered with substrate compactly, few vertical cracks, inlaid immature transformed and un-melted particles were retained.
