Anisotropy of bulk pure aluminium fabricate by cold spray

Additive manufacturing via cold spray is of widespread interest. However, bulk materials fabricated by cold spray has significant anisotropy. In this paper, we studied the influence of microstructure anisotropy on mechanical properties of the cold sprayed bulk pure aluminum. The microstructure of the cold sprayed bulk aluminum presents a nearly lamellar structure. Though the tensile strength in perpendicular to spray direction remains the same as industrial pure aluminum after annealing, the strength in parallel to spray direction is about 30% of industrial pure aluminum after annealing or not. The annealing treatment only has effect on the perpendicular direction, the tensile strength of the parallel direction remains the same after annealing with almost no ductility.
