HIGH VELOCITY AIR/FUEL (HVAF) ADVANCES FOR EXCEPTIONAL WEAR AND ABRASION RESISTANCE

A hybrid High Velocity thermal spray process significantly increases the life of tungsten carbide coatings. This hybrid process is demonstrating wear rates less than half of the wear rates demonstrated by the typical HVOF process. In addition, this process can achieve a spray rate of 33+ kg/hour (73+ lbs./hour) with 60% DE. A 0.25 mm (0.001”) thick 1 m² (11 ft2) WCCoCr coating can be sprayed in just 10 minutes! The paper describes the process and presents field data on this hybrid process coating.
