Development of plasma spray gun for inner diameter suspension and fabrication of thermal spray coating

Abstract

In recent years, suspension plasma spraying (SPS) which has been actively researched and developed has dense coating characteristics with less pores, so it has excellent environmental resistance, optical function, electrical function it is used for the intended application.

Furthermore, it is possible to intentionally generate vertical cracks in the coating, to form a feather shape, and it is possible to perform a very effective coating for heat shielding.

These features have not been realized by conventional plasma spraying. Therefore, suspension plasma spraying having these characteristics has attracted attention and expected form various industrial fields. In fact, the shape of the material to be sprayed in each industrial field has many three-dimensional shape and inner diameter part, while spray gun for inner diameter is not common.

In this study, prototype guns for inner diameter that can be used as suspension plasma spray gun are prototyped, and properties of the thermal spray coating are evaluated and reported.
