Cascaded arc gun for low pressure plasma spray applications

A cascaded single arc high efficiency low pressure plasma spray gun has been developed and tested by Oerlikon Metco. By combining key design elements from the Sinplex and 03CP platforms, the Sinplex 03C demonstrates improvements in performance for traditional LPPS and PS-PVD configurations while retaining compatibility with existing vacuum systems. Results presented will include process stability, power efficiency, and plasma gas considerations including argon only operation. Application snapshots and coating characteristics will be discussed to highlight the impact of this technology for several markets.
