In the adhesion of cold spray, the deformation behavior of collision particles is an essential factor that dominates its adhesion strength of them. It is also known that its deformation behavior depends on the particle shape. In this research, we prepared several different copper particle sprayed specimens and the adhesion strength changes depending on the particle shape was evaluated by using micro-scale strength evaluation technique using FIB. This technique uses µm scale specimens to evaluate local adhesion strength. Moreover, we will discuss the relationship between particle deformation behavior and particle shape by computational simulation. From those discussions, we would like to propose optimized particle shape and spray condition to obtain higher adhesion strength.
