SST Cold Spray Technology Post-COVID applications and Opportunities

Cold spray technology emerged as a practical technology in the 1980’s from the Russian Academy of Sciences in Novosibirsk. As we move into 2020, the pace of the commercial implementation of this technology into volume production continues to grow in areas beyond repair, restoration and remanufacturing. Although the Aerospace industry continues to lead the commercial implementation of cold spraying for non-structural and some structural restoration, other industry segments appear to start benefiting from the ability to do volume production of novel products. In a post-COVID era, novel thermal spray processes, such as cold spray, instigates innovative production applications that demand environmental responsibility, cost-effectiveness, reliability, repeatability, and maintainability.
