A recent topic in Cold spraying is the implementation of deposition strategies to produce 3D additive components. Albeit the mechanism of deposit growth from powders collision is known in the literature, the fine investigation of thermomechanical phenomena during the high-speed collision, such as the development of residual stress throughout the deposition growth, remains a hot topic. The aim of this study is focused on this issue and attempts to determine the layer level at which the compression-tension transition of the residual stresses takes place during the deposit growth of an Al1050 3D deposit produced by a cold spray additive manufacturing, using a stable layer-by-layer fabrication strategy manner.
