Session 10A: Non-metallic Biomaterials
Location: Governors Hall I & V (Radisson Riverfront Hotel)
(Please check final room assignments on-site).
Session Description: Bio-resorbable materials are among the leading future products that could provide the opportunity for the development of temporary implants where secondary operations for removal of the implants are eliminated. They can also be used as a structural skeleton for bone growth. Bio-resorbable and non metallic materials are strong contenders to substitute some bio-metallics in the future. This session will cover the developments in the area of non-metallic and polymeric bio-materials. Bio-resorbable and bone replacement materials are characterized, their properties and their performance in biological environments are presented. Attendees will learn the leading edge developments on the bio-resorbable and the non-metallic biomaterials that could be used as temporary implants.
