Lessons Learned in Vascular Device Development

A. Salahieh, Sandra Medical, Campbell, CA

This paper will review a few examples of successes and failures in commercialization of vascular devices. Amr has been involved in developing thermal and perfusion angioplasty balloons, minimally invasive cardiac surgical devices, drug delivery devices, embolic protection devices, and percutaneous valve repair and replacement products. This presentation will highlight some strategies for identifying and pursuing successful product commercialization of cardiovascular devices and ways to collaborate with industry, clinicians and VC groups.
