Processing and Publishing Materials Property Data on an Enterprise Level

D. E. Mies, MSC.Mvision Databanks, Santa Ana, CA

The derivation of materials property data is no longer a local activity involving a single test machine, laboratory or even site. Just as design and manufacturing are increasingly being executed via collaboration between several organizations, then so too is the collation and processing of materials information from disparate sources into a single coherent database, to support data consumers throughout the collaborating community. There are obvious benefits in standardizing on the workflow and approval processes throughout collaborating partners, and MSC.Software Corporation has been taking advantage of its technology for workflow of other types of functional data to apply to the materials case. Examples from customer projects will be included in the presentation.

Summary: As companies and OEM'S strive to streamline their processes, they must efficiently collate and disseminate materials property data to support manufacturing operations, both in-house and between suppliers. MSC.Software Corporation explores the possibilities, eventualities, and realities of fully integrating the flow of materials data from test house through manufacturing.
