Overview:
The Lean/Six Sigma philosophy and methodology has been getting widespread attention in the last 10 years or more. It is used to improve processes in everything from automobile manufacturing to aerospace to finance. In the materials' world, it has been shown by many companies to be applicable to improving efficiency, quality, and productivity in everything from basic research to materials processing. This session with highlight some of those applications and demonstrate how tools such as Design of Experiments (DOEs) and other Six Sigma tools can be used to optimize processes rapidly, as well as identify critical factors contributing to failures. Other presentations will highlight how the application of "lean" can eliminate rework, decrease time-to-market, and improve cost-efficiency of both your product and your processes.
