The thermal cycle during the heat treatment of steel rings made of medium carbon steel was recorded by the insertion of type K thermocouples. The rings were reheated following a multi-stage cycle that allowed for a homogeneous distribution of temperature. The temperatures recorded by these devices were used to evaluate the critical points during transformation by thermal analyses and construct a continuous cooling transformation diagram.
