Summary: Recent advances to electrolessly deposited Ni-B have made this plating technology an excellent choice for wear resistance, friction reduction, permanent lubrication, and corrosion resistance. In many cases these Ni-B platings meet of exeed hard Cr, avoiding many of the problems associated with the hard Cr process. Microstructure, performance properties, application technique, and industrial readiness will be discussed.
