Summary: An alternative deposition technique consisting of a combination of Electrostatic Spray Coating (ESC) of cBN powder and Chemical Vapor Infiltration (CVI) of TiCN on a WC-Co substrate is proposed for the development of a composite coating for hard turning of steels. This paper deals with the CVI aspect of the process. Process optimization and machining tests are discussed.
