Summary: A nano+micro tester with integrated atomic force and optical microscopes has been used to monitor changes in nano-mechanical properties of thin films during micro-tribology tests. Increases in nano-hardness and elastic modulus, as well as changes in surface topography of thin copper films were quantified during tribology tests.
