K. Kitamura, Aichi University of Education, Kariya, Japan; T. Kuchida, Y. Sawada, T. Inaba, Mie University, Tsu, Japan; M. Tokuda, Mie University, Mie, Japan; Y. Yoshimi, Yoshimi inc., Obu, Japan

Ti-Ni casting metal was made by Lost-wax process from a self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) ingot. The sample of the 3-D shape can be easily made using this process. Mennemprat, Tooth root and Brain spatula of medical devices were made by this process. The purpose of this study is to investigate the shape memory characteristics of casting specimens. The composition of these specimens were Ti-50.8at%Ni. The heat-treatment conditions were 753K for 2.4ks. The shape memory characteristics of lost-wax process were evaluated by XRD, DSC, and the tensile test. All casting specimens have good shape memory behavior.
