Fabrication of Assistance Tools for Grape Farming Applying Ti-Ni Superelastic Alloy

K. Kitamura, Aichi University of Education, Kariya, Japan

The Assistance tools for grape farming applying Ti-Ni superelastic alloy (KIOKALLOY, Daido Steel, Co., Ltd) were developed. Arms were assisted with this apparatus power by this alloy. The superelastic components were made from ten Ti-Ni wires of 1.6mm in diameter and 250mm in length. The components were arranged right and left side of the waist belt and arm belt. The elastic components support the arm by the power of about 1kg. The transformation temperatures were measured by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). From DSC measurement, this alloy showed the superelastic behavior at room temperature. The bending fatigue characteristics of superelastic components were investigated by fatigue tester. The maximum strain ration of bending fatigue test was 2.2%. Fatigue lives of the superelastic components were about 10,000 times at 2.2% strain.
