Mn-Fe based alloys are the kind of antiferromagnetic materials whose magnetic –field induced strain (MFIS)can compare with those of ferromagnetic magnetostrictive materials. Additionally, the alloys also undertake martensitic transformations and shape memory effect. In this paper, pseudoelasticity in antiferromagnetic Mn78Fe17Cu5 alloys was studied by means of compression test and X-ray diffraction analysis at room temperature. The result shows that the stress-induced martensitic transformation occurred in this alloy after a certain load compression. After unloading, the strain of the alloy varied from 10.2% to 2.2%, the recoverable strain was about 8%, and the strain got most of the recovery. It indicates that pseudoealasticity can be found in this alloy.
