Clinical applications of DERHT Method in Orthodontics

Nickel titanium (NiTi) alloy wires possesses excellent spring-back properties, shape memory and super-elasticity. In order to adapt this wire to clinical use, it is necessary to bend as well as to control its super-elastic force, and so a direct electric resistance heat treatment (DERHT) method was developed.

The objective of this presentation is to show a new slim and compact version of the appliance and some clinical applications of this unique alloys in traditional treatments and how now it is possible to improve this unique properties in new orthodontic treatments and posible future aplications.
