The development of new devices in solid state refrigeration field has a good perspective in elastocaloric applications of NiTi SMA alloys. Particularly the NiTi tubes give an efficient way for heat transfer and management. In this work we consider elastocaloric effect induced by torsional solicitation. Adiabatic DT registered in internal part of the tube, during torsion of about 120° is ±20 K, therefore the source of heat is localized but with sufficient efficiency of heat transfer. Moreover, the torsional solicitation involves in lower hard way the deformation of the material improving the perspective of fatigue life and preventing possible failure.

A first proof of concept with one and a series of tubes of 3 and 6 mm of diameter was designed and realized. The first indication of temperature span generated was also collected.
