Since ages metallization of plastics is of interest for various industries such as sanitary and automotive. Recently, the market is more inclined towards alternatives for electroplating to metalize plastics with eco-friendly technology. IHI Hauzer Techno Coating offers; Cromatipic©: an innovative and environment friendly way to metallize plastic parts, which will meet industrial requirements. Cromatipic© is a two-step process consisting of a UV base spray coat which uses zero VOC’s, followed by PVD metallization process. Due to chosen technologies, the entire Cromatipic© technology complies with several environmental regulations and contributes towards a healthy environment. The technology is characterized by a high throughput and low cost per product.
Cromatipic© technology is available for some time now for bright surface finishes. Plastic parts with Cromatipic© technology has achieved best of corrosion resistance property. The author will also talk about diverse industrial requirements, such as thermal resistance, weathering resistance, humidity resistance, chemical resistance and wear resistance which Cromatipic© parts can fulfil.
Recently the trend for aesthetic surfaces is toward matte and satin finishes. In closing the author will talk about different finishes and addresses the effect of particles to achieve different matt/satin finish. Also for satin finish, Cromatipic© meets requirement of distinct industrial standards.
