This presentation will try to inspire and foster discussion by giving examples of areas where architects see shifting needs in architectural glass. New technology will have to get developed that addresses these needs and will shape our buildings in the future. Advancements in glass and glass coating technology have been outstanding in the last few decades and Architects, as designers of our built environment, are not the only beneficiaries of these development. The general public is taking advantage of buildings filled with day light providing human comfort with ever decreasing energy consumption when properly planned. To continue this rapid development in which we all partake, an ongoing discussion between various disciplines in the supply chain of glass and its enhancements by coatings is essential.
