WPX Faserkeramik GmbH develops and manufactures heat treatment components, for example charge carriers, made of oxide ceramic matrix composite (OCMC) under the brand name WHIPOX®. WHIPOX® OCMC consists of pure aluminum oxide fiber ceramic embedded in a pure aluminum oxide matrix. Due to its excellent properties like extreme stability against thermal and mechanical shocks, thermal insulation, low thermal load, minimal warping, and good tensile and bending strength, WHIPOX® is well suited for charge carriers, for separation grids of cast iron or CFC charge carriers, for furnace linings, electrical insulations, and for gas burner nozzles in the temperature range 750°C – 1.300°C. Being oxidation- and corrosion resistant, it can be used in atmospheric processes. Non conducting, electromagnetic transparent, and non corrosive WHIPOX® parts are well suited for inductive heating / transport devices and crucible lining. WHIPOX® open grid structures can be used as systems, components and parts under extreme temperature changes (> 1.000°K/sec) and steep temperature gradients (>1.000°K/cm). WHIPOX® improves energy efficiency by significant reduction of charge carrier weight, improved product properties by precise temperature control, increased furnace equipment uptime through non-catastrophic failure, automated setting by warp-free carriers, and less rejects due to Carbon contamination / sticking.
