Numerical simulation is widely used nowadays in order to test design prior to physical prototyping. Induction hardening applications gains from simulation since they frequently request production of accurate customized coils. Despite the fact commercial software are playing leading role in simulation software market, there are great competitors who
have proved also to be reliable, accurate and fast – open source software.
GetDP and Elmer have all properties to compete with commercial software for induction
heating simulations. In this paper, we demonstrate simulation results of an industrially
relevant non-linear induction heating problem. Furthermore, we show how the new
integration platform CENOS allows to save time using open source software down to the
level of user-friendly commercial software and make simulation cycle even more simple for
non-experienced users.
