Summary: Nickel base filler metals are currently being used to weld super austenitic stainless steels such as AL6XN. These alloys are expensive and susceptible to localized corrosion. The objective of this research is to develop filler metals for super austenitic stainless steels that exhibit better weldability and resistance to localized corrosion.
