Investigation of mechanical properties of friction stir welds in age hardenable 7xxx aluminium alloys

V. M. Linton, S. Renc, I. H. Brown, University of Adelaide, Adelaide, Australia

View in WORD format

Summary: The effects of friction stir welding on the mechanical properties of 7xxx series aluminium alloys were investigated. The properties included hardness, toughness and fatigue. The development of these properties as the material age hardened has been related to the microstructures in the different weld zones.
