Transverse Tensile Properties of AA2524 Friction Stir Welds: quasi-static and high rate loading

Summary: R-curves were obtained for plates containing friction stir welds made using different welding conditions. Several different hardness distributions resulted from the processing conditions. Digital image correlation was used to quantify the strain fields in the crack tip regions at high and low loading rates.
