Summary: Monel 60 filler metal (ERNiCu-7) was selected as a potential replacement for use with type 304L base metal and reduce Cr+6 content in welding fumes. This study evaluated the weldability issues associated with Monel60/type 304L dissimilar combinations, including compatibility, weld cracking susceptibility, microstructure evaluation, mechanical properties and fume generation.
