H. Inoue, Nippon Steel Corporation, Chiba, Japan; T. Koseki, The University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan

View in WORD format

Summary: Solidification morphologies of austenitic stainless steels that solidified with primary ferrite were investigated. The austenite in the interdendritic regions is not crystallographically restricted by the primary ferrite during the growth. The growth manner of the primary ferrite and secondary austenite is named as gindependent two-phase growthh.
