Summary: The focus of this paper is to explore the effects of gravitational orientation on the convection flow and weld pool shape. The role of gravity will be studied through an experimental investigation involving the GTAW and LBW of 304 stainless steel, in which welding orientation will be varied to assign gravitational orientation.
